Current Projects

Our main current project is to build an Atlantic Islands Centre at the edge of the conservation village of Cullipool which will include a Museum, an exhibition/events space, an art gallery, offices and a cafe restaurant.

At a General Meeting of Trust members on Wednesday 17 March 2010 the 77 members of the Trust were asked to vote on the motion “That the Members of the Isle of Luing Community Trust support the recommendation of the Directors to proceed with the Atlantic Islands Centre project by submitting plans for Planning Consent and proceeding to build the Centre once this has been obtained”.

Results:

for the motion to proceed with the project:
63 votes (91.3%)

against the motion to proceed with the project:
3 votes (4.3%)

registered abstentions 3 (4.3%)

More detailed information about the vote is available in the latest Update on the documents page.

At a discretionary Planning Committee meeting held in Cullipool Hall on Monday 31 January, at which the committee heard presentations from both supporters and objectors to the project, the Planning Committee went against the advice of the senior planning officer and voted unamimously to grant planning permission for the project.  The next stage is to find the funding - a major hurdle in these financially straitened times!
